Das, The Bengal News, Kolkata, 23rd January 2026 : Parakram Diwas was commemorated with deep reverence and patriotic fervour at Victoria Memorial on January 23, marking the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. A special cultural programme was organised on this occasion by the Ministry of Information and Culture, Government of India. Titled “Jai Hind – The Call of a Revolutionary,” the programme paid tribute to the life, philosophy, and revolutionary spirit of Netaji through music and dance.

The evening unfolded as a powerful artistic homage to one of India’s most exceptional sons, celebrating his ideals, thoughts, and lifelong dedication to the motherland. Eminent Odissi dancer Donna Ganguly curated and presented the dance segment, accompanied by students of Raghunath Das and Diksha Manjari.

The musical segment featured soulful performances by renowned singers Raghav Chatterjee and Iman Chakraborty, along with Arshad Ali Khan, Durnibar Saha, Arfin Rana, and Aratrika Sinha. Students from Iman Chakraborty’s music academy also took part in the performances. The programme’s music direction was helmed by Nilanjan Ghosh. The event was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Vice President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan and the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal C. V. Ananda Bose, among other distinguished guests. Notably, the day also coincided with Saraswati Puja. After a morning filled with festive rituals, large numbers of spectators gathered at Victoria Memorial by evening. The grand staircase of the monument transformed into a space of a different kind of worship – an offering to the nation, celebrating the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, a uniquely fearless and inspiring patriot.
