Rana Chakraborty, the Bengal news, West Bengal: In a dazzling ceremony at the Eden Gardens, women’s World Cup champion Richa Ghosh was felicitated in an emotional environment. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee, Sports minister Arup Biswas, commissioner of police Mr Manoj Verma, formal Indian star Jhulan Goswami along with formar Indian women cricketers were present at the falicitation. At the beginning Sourav Ganguly felicitated Richa with the bocked of flower. Jhulan Goswami in her speech narrated a story, “In 2013 we were not performing well. I approached personalities like the then secretary Mr Biswarup Dey, Bablu Kole seeking permission for a talent hunt program. From this program I first saw Richa.” Jhulan rememberd that selecting Richa for the senior Bengal team was a tough time for her. But when Richa got a chance she prove herself. Jhulan Goswami told, “it was then when all acknowledged that my decision was correct.” Sourav Ganguly during his speech told, “CAB is arranging a cricket academy at Howrah Domjul. We can expect that more talent will come out from the academy.”The Siliguri girl, Richa Ghosh, was accompanied by her parents. CAB presented her a gold bat and check of 34 lacs as Richa scored 34 runs in the final. Beside this she also receive many other mementoes. Richa also got appointment letter to join the police service.Sourav Ganguly has played three world cups and in one he was the captain. He never could be a winner. Richa Ghosh will be the first Bengali player to have a world cup memento in her cabinet. Richa Sharma, popularly known as ‘little Mahi’ within her team mates, got the name as she is fond of heating big sixes like Dhoni. Richa was asked if she is fond of drinking milk like Dhoni. She replied, “I drank milk in my childhood. I have many trophies in my cabinet but the world cup champion memento will be in front of all other mementoes.”

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee handed over the Bango Bhushan award to Richa and also presented her a gold chain. Chief minister and Sourav Ganguly expressed their desire to see Richa as captain of India in near future. CM in her speech told, “We expect a lot from Richa. But I will not pressurize her. She will find her own way to bring more success.” CM also added, “Sourav has represented our country several times and has been a successful captain for the decade. I expect him to be at the top most position of ICC. He will make it no one can stop it.”
